Key Points!

Flipping a classroom “Is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional educational arrangement by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom. It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom. In a flipped classroom, students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home and engage in concepts in the classroom with the guidance of the instructor” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flipped_classroom

How could authentic assessment be used in a flipped classroom? Student Engagement Techniques.

Barkley (2010) suggests that G. P. Wiggins’ (1998, p. 23-24) ideas of ‘authentic assessment’ is the “doing” of the subject or the task at hand (p.29).

She explicitly spells it out by saying “…the task reproduces the ways and the contexts in which a person’s knowledge and abilities are “tested” in real-world situations” (Elizabeth F. Barkley, 2010, p. 29).
